Candidate for Congleton

I’m standing in Congleton to give voters in East Cheshire a real, credible alternative to the Conservatives.

The main issue locally is one of excessive speculative housing development, changing the character of towns forever. This has been caused by a combination of the Tory-Led local authority failing get a Local Plan adopted and the hasty introduction of the NPPF by the Tory-led Government, which effectively removes the safety net of national policy. As a professional architecture and urban design consultant, with a PhD in planning and considerable experience in the housing sector, I am well placed to address these issues and am working closely with community groups opposing development on inappropriate sites. I am also campaigning about mental health provision, including the privatisation of services and the recent increases in rail fares which affect so many in Congleton.

As well as running my own consultancy, I am a Director of my wife’s business that produces clothing manufactured clothing in the UK, Chair of Governors at a local school and a District Councillor in the Staffordshire Moorlands. Most importantly though, I am a husband to Deborah and a father to an eight year old daughter and a three year old son. Our daughter has Williams Syndrome a rare genetic condition and she is, unbeknownst to her, a major reason why I am standing. I simply cannot sit and watch whilst this Tory-led Government destroys the NHS and demonises the most vulnerable in society.
