I believe it's vital that local people have a strong voice in Parliament, someone who fights for their concerns and stands up for the community - that's why I am standing to be your MP.

I am not a career politician. As somebody who has worked in the public sector for the last 29 years in housing and the NHS, I understand the issues that matter to you and your family. It was listening to those issues that persuaded me to set up a voluntary organisation to help women suffering domestic violence.

Having worked full time whilst raising a family I understand the issues facing hard working people and the importance of community integration.

Too many community centres have been sold off by the Council. I want to protect them as they are the glue that binds our community together.

I want to protect the welfare of the elderly people in Barking because they are an asset to our community.

I want to bring in jobs for local people.

Years of neglect by the Council have left residents living in homes that do not meet the Decent Homes Standard.

I believe in trying to give a voice to the local people and earning their trust.
