ALEXANDER BURNETT
CANDIDATE FOR WEST ABERDEENSHIRE AND KINCARDINE
Alexander was selected by an Open Primary in March 2014 to be the Conservative candidate for West Aberdeenshire & Kincardine in the 2015 General Election.
As a local businessman with a strong family connection to the area, Alexander has always taken a keen interest in sustainability and conservation issues.
Prior to returning to the North-East, he spent nine years in Azerbaijan carrying out development work. Since then, he has been involved in a diverse range of businesses involving construction and development; energy efficiency and renewable energy activities; and land-based activities such including farming and forestry. He is also active in the tourism sector and in community activities. This last aspect has seen the establishment of a local arts association at Woodend and the creation of one of Scotland’s largest allotment sites.
Aside from his passion of renewable energy, which has led to the development of the Hill of Banchory Biomass Energy Centre and Heat Network, one of the largest in Scotland, he is a keen rugby enthusiast with Deeside RFC. Sadly, recent retired, he is an active coach and vice-president.
