DAN WATKINS
CANDIDATE FOR TOOTING
Dan has lived in Tooting for 13 years. In 2006 he started a business, located in the Earlsfield part of the constituency, and has generated dozens of jobs in the area. He also looks to help other entrepreneurs through his work as an ambassador for the Wandsworth Chamber of Commerce.
Locally, Dan is a long-standing Governor of Oak Lodge School for the Deaf and volunteers at CDG Wandsworth, helping the long-term unemployed back into work. Since being elected, Dan has initiated the successful www.LoveYourLocalShops.com scheme, which supports Tooting’s diverse range of independent retailers.
He has expanded the scope of his environmental action group, the Tooting Voluntary Force, organising five different projects to improve Tooting’s green spaces and waterways.Other projects involve saving Tooting’s pubs and helping locals to form a residents association on one of the area’s council estates.
Tamara, Dan's wife, works in the public sector and both are keen runners and Tooting curry lovers. Going forward, Dan wants to support local firms in creating jobs, as well as to raise standards in education, to ensure that the state meets the aspirations of the people of Tooting - and their children.
