Monmouth, Ruth Jones

I have been a Trade Union member for 30 years and a member of the Labour Party for over 14 years. I have always sought to play an active role in both areas. I was the President of the Wales TUC in 2006 and long been active in within the local Labour party. I enjoy campaigning and have been a key part of the team that have successfully re-elected MPs and AMs. I understand that elections are usually won by the party that works the hardest, and this is reflected in my approach to campaigning.

I believe in ordinary people representing ordinary people in Parliament, and I believe that I can do this. I have been a physiotherapist working in the NHS for the past 30 years and share ordinary people’s aspirations. I want the best education for my children, an effective responsive local health service and social service to be able to provide care when necessary. I know what it’s like to struggle to pay the bills, and this Conservative Government, and their local MP, should be held to account for the lack of support they have provided for households.
