Michael is the local boy, done good.
Born in Peckham, he is an elected Councillor in the London Borough of Southwark and a community champion, working locally in Bermondsey. He has been part of successful campaigns for:
Bringing a new Housing Office to the rejuvenated Market Square
Saving the local nursery from closure
Preventing a probation hostel from relocating
A community advocate, Michael continues to work tirelessly on issues of anti-social behaviour, youth provision and jobs. This has resulted in restoring a Youth Club along the Old Kent Road and the recent launch of a new local youth programme in collaboration with a local community group
His professional background is as a former tax adviser with Deloitte & Touche in London. He advised FTSE 100 & Dow 50 multinational corporations on strategic and operational tax planning to help clients streamline and improve their bottom line.
A party member since 2002, he was formerly part of Ethnic Minority Liberal Democrats, where he helped set up an Ethnic Minority Election Task Force during the 2005 General Election to address the under-representation of ethnic minorities within the Party. Michael is also a trustee of multiple charities locally in South London.
