Kingston and Surbiton, Lee Godfrey
Lee Godfrey grew up in Hertfordshire and attended Parmiter's School, a comprehensive school in Garston, near Watford. After leaving school he served in the Royal Navy before studying Operational Research and Operations Management at Lancaster University. After University, Lee worked in the energy industry for 16 years, both domestically and internationally, on major industry change. His experience has given him considerable knowledge of the energy market and industry.
Lee currently owns a small business offering professional and consultancy services to the energy industry. He chairs the Surrey Libraries Action Movement (SLAM) and leads many community campaigns. Lee has a special interest in combating stress related illnesses caused by the modern workplace. He describes stress related illnesses as a 'modern epidemic that is rarely discussed.’ Lee believes that if there were more politicians with real life experience of the modern workplace then the issues of workplace stress, anxiety and depression would be a lot higher up the agenda. Lee believes that we need to take a more balanced approach to our country’s future. For too long we have celebrated greed and envy at the expense of humanity, compassion and community values. A more balanced One Nation approach, he argues, would seek to share the nation’s prosperity and opportunities much more widely.
He is a keen sportsman and has played cricket, football and triathlon throughout his life.
