Keighley, John Grogan
John has the experience, track record and ability to win in Keighley and be a great MP for local people. He grew up in Wharfedale where he still lives. For 13 years between 1997 and 2010 John was one of the most respected Labour MP's in Yorkshire representing Selby until his Constituency was abolished following boundary changes. He knows what it takes to win a marginal seat off the Tories and to hold it time and again. He did it through commitment and hard work. In Parliament, John was never afraid to speak his mind on behalf of his Constituents and for the values of the Labour Party. The grandson of Irish migrants to Bradford, his Dad had his first teaching job at St Anne's Primary School in Keighley. He is a proud Yorkshireman and a keen supporter of both Bradford City and Yorkshire County Cricket Club. He currently chairs the Labour Party Yorkshire and Humber Development Board which is tasked with increasing funding for the Party in the Region and also with improving relations with business, sports and the arts. He also promotes British exports to new markets around the world chairing the Mongolian British Chamber of Commerce. John would be a strong, experienced, independent minded, progressive, Yorkshire voice for Keighley.
