Sarah Smith
Dover and Deal
For 25 years Sarah Smith has lived, worked and brought up her two children in the Dover villages. A life-long Liberal Democrat voter, she joined the party in 2007, stood in the Kent County Council elections in 2012 and was selected as Dover & Deal’s Prospective Parliamentary Candidate in November 2013. She believes 2015 is the time to stand up for Liberal values and change the politics of Dover and Deal.
Sarah has been a director of retail and construction businesses, creating employment for local people. She has held senior policy roles at the Church of England and at the Financial Services Authority, where she designed services to help people manage their money.
For Sarah, Dover’s strategic location as the gateway to Europe gives it an opportunity to create lasting prosperity based on technology, trade and tourism. She will campaign hard for a fair share of national infrastructure investment and for the UK's positive and active membership of the EU, which is central to securing jobs and security for local people.
Sarah believes that Westminster needs MPs who will work for their communities. An experienced local campaigner, she has fought for the retention of vital local services in her area, including Walmer Science College, Richborough recycling centre and village community buildings.
Sarah is committed to ensuring that Dover & Deal is in the forefront of the national fight for a stronger economy and a fairer society. In 2015, she will offer voters a clear voice from the middle ground and a chance for change.
