About Nick Palmer
Born 1950; PhD mathematics (Birkbeck College London); worked in IT management for Ciba-Geigy and later Novartis (Switzerland), specialising in internet issues; speaks six languages; published three books on board games in 1980s which sold over 100,000 copies, and launched games magazine, Flagship, which has been published continuously since 1983; stood for Parliament in Chelsea in 1983 and European Parliament in East Sussex & South Kent in 1995; elected as MP for Broxtowe in 1997 and re-elected in 2001 and 2005; served on Treasury, Europe, Northern Ireland and currently Justice Select Committees; has been Parliamentary Private Secretary to Energy and Animal Welfare Ministers. Particular interests: internet, environment, energy, overseas development, animal welfare.
