CLARENCE MITCHELL
CANDIDATE FOR BRIGHTON PAVILION
Clarence has strong links with East Sussex having completed his journalism training there in the 1980s, before he covered Margaret Thatcher as a local reporter on the Hendon and Finchley Times in London. For more than three decades since, he has worked in local and national media, government and public relations.
A former BBC News correspondent and presenter, he also worked for the Cabinet Office and CCHQ during the 2010 General Election campaign. Clarence, a father of three, said: “I’m hugely honoured to have been selected for Brighton Pavilion, the beating heart of arguably the UK's most attractive, diverse, tolerant and creative city.
Having endured years of failed Green politics, Brighton Pavilion now urgently needs to fulfil its immense economic potential once again; for its residents, businesses and visitors. Only with a strong Conservative voice speaking up for Brighton’s true interests in Parliament, not a lone voice pursuing her own left-wing agenda, can Pavilion’s return to prosperity truly begin.”
