Tessa Munt MP
MP for Wells
Tessa was inspired to pursue a career in politics by her grandfather who took up politics in his adopted country, Kenya, serving as Minister for Finance & Development through the 1950s. Neither of Tessa’s parents were political, but her uncle was on the Church of England’s ruling body and was well known for challenging the establishment!
Before her election, Tessa enjoyed a varied career: a year at a bank, three years in a firm of local solicitors, then joined a hotel company where over ten years, she worked in sales, accounts, marketing and personnel. Promotions meant moving to East Anglia, then into the company’s international division, training managers and staff in customer care. She has two almost grown up children Emma and Harry and lives with Partner David in Somerset.
She was finally elected the MP for Wells Constituency in May 2010 and has since gained a reputation as busy constituency MP and an effective voice in Westminster.
In her spare time, Tessa likes cooking for family and friends, walking and listening to music
