Anne Snelgrove is a free-lance trainer and coach in presentation and communication skills with extensive experience working in the public and private sectors. She began her career as a teacher and education advisor, has worked in community relations for an international company, ran her own company for a while, and spent five years as the Member of Parliament for South Swindon.
She also volunteers with unemployed people in Swindon, offering training on CV and interview skills, and spent six months working with Oxfam on their volunteer training programme. Anne has served on the boards of two Swindon Children’s Centres and was governor of a local secondary school for several years.
Nationally, Anne contributed to Labour’s ground-breaking Early Years policies and is committed to ensuring Swindon’s children get the best start in life. Locally, she fought a high profile campaign to stop cuts to Swindon’s children’s centres and is dedicated to restoring these. Anne is also concerned at the length of time many Swindon patients have to wait to see a doctor and for some services at the Great Western Hospital.
Anne grew up on a council estate in a new town similar to Swindon and was the first girl in her large family to go on to higher education. She is committed to expanding educational opportunities for young people in Swindon.
