MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT FOR MID NORFOLK
George won the 2010 election for the new constituency of Mid Norfolk, increasing the forecast 8,000 majority to 14,000 with a fresh campaign IT STARTS HERE!
Having come to Parliament after a 15 year career in biomedicine, and recently worked with the Prime Minister on the G8 Dementia Summit, George has championed the Eastern Region’s leadership in medical research to help tackle diseases like dementia.
As the architect of the Government’s Agri-Tech Industrial Strategy, George has launched the Nor-Cam cluster collaboration at the Norwich Research Park and has consistently supported Norfolk’s world-leading agricultural sector. George has campaigned to upgrade the Cambridge-Norwich railway, secure Government funding for the dualling of the A11 and improve rural Broadband. Through his social action project The Norfolk Way, he has campaigned for localist reforms to unlock a rural renaissance and promoted rural skills with the Norfolk Way Rural Enterprise Bursary and his work on the Edge Rural Apprenticeships.
In July 2014, George was appointed Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Business, Innovation & Skills, and Health (Life Sciences).
